The E39 was widely praised and it even made it ten best list to car and motorists. As it had earned the highest rating ever this 5 collection became the standard of its own class among other makers. Versions accessible during this generation 525td, 523i, 525i, 528i, 530i, 535i, 540i, M5, 520d, 525d, 520i, 525tds, and the 530d.

The fifth generation of the 5 series was known as the E60 or E61 bodystyle and was produced from 2003 through 2010. With a complete redesign of exterior looks and interior electronics it's received mixed reviews due to the non conventional BMW layout.
